Franky and Danie, “the van Antwerpen Brothers”, have become the main builders for change of the social initiative Qala Phelang Tala (QPT). Aptly called QPT`s waste innovator brothers, they seem to be able to transform any waste materials into beautiful, useful and free building materials. Before joining QPT they had been wandering South Africa for many years, doing odd jobs and gaining technical skills that have proved invaluable for the QPT initiatives. Now they earn extra income over weekends by working, experimenting and innovating on QPT pilot projects. They are passionate about sustainable building methods and are mentored by Anita Venter while also aspiring to complete their Senior Certificates.
The Hlalele Brothers, Lucky and Mokete, born and raised in Botshabelo Township and currently residing at Canaan R&D site is mentored by Thabo. They have started their own entrepreneurial enterprize specializing in urban food gardens. The Hlaleles is ready to take the QPT name forward as change agents in terms of food security
