Qala Phelang Tala (QPT) is concerned with the lack of change in development, especially pertaining to food security, water security and adequate shelter for the poorest citizens in developing countries. There is a need for change in technology, intervention strategies and society’s perceptions of sustainability related to human settlements. Qala Phelang Tala wishes to engage with and enable anybody that has an environmental and social conscience to become change agents in their community.

We are currently focused on affordable urban food gardening, affordable green building (especially tyrebrick construction) and recycling, upcycling and re-use initiatives. All our project operate with a emphasis on social development and upskilling.

Although our team is academically well-versed, we believe in not just talking about problems and solutions but rather to we strive to be the change we want to see by learning through doing and practical implementation of our knowledge in partnership with vulnerable communities.
